January 2009

Well, I have a new apartment and we moved my stuff out of a smoky building, the stuff that didn’t get stolen. Yeah, stolen. People rule.

It’s a nice place though and I got into it just in time for the Fall semester. Thanks to my pseudo-family for letting me crash on their couch for a week,

I have a lot of work on my plate already. I just have to remember that my social life is now over. It was nice to have time for it on the break, though.

I have an Art and Religion course with Pete Massing and Clay McNearny. I’m pretty excited about that one. Hopefully a lot of interesting discussions will happen.

We are hanging the Michael Cornfeld Exhibition in the gallery right now, and it has been a challenge. I think we have made some good decisions though, that will make the show look good.

an image I can’t get out of my head today….

Well…the holidays were good. I had a great time seeing my family and relaxing.

However, yesterday my apartment building caught on fire.

I was in Charleston and had just walked into the skate park when I got a call from friends that my building was on fire. I immediately left for Huntington. I talked to Chris Guinn on the phone and the firefighters saved my dog and Guinn took care of him until I got there.

There was a man who was seriously injured and one other person taken to the hospital, and I am wishing and hoping that they will be okay.

The firefighters gave my dog some oxygen and he is perfectly fine.

They also let Jenni and I go in to retrieve some essentials. My stuff is only smoke damaged, but that is definitely not too fun. I am however very very thankful that it was not any worse than it is. I really hope that guy pulled through though.

So, I’m homeless. My friends are very generous and spiff and I have a place to sleep for now.
